I will use the word Apple to introduce the sound of the letter, and throw off the children repeat the word with me, focusing on the A sound. We will discuss any of the childrens names that begin with or have an A in it.

I will break an apple around to each of the children and let them feel it and olfactory property it. We will have the children find items in the classroom that have the A sound in them and then to fin ish up the activity, I will let the children! color a picture of the letter A for them to take home with them. I will make copies of the artwork for the walls in the classroom. I will similarly ask the children to work with their parents to find items in their house that has the A sound in them.
